Portrait of the Artist

An early installation, maybe 1974, where I was investigating the veracity of the photographic image. I silkscreened my image, life-sized, on to many fabric bags. Each bag had a zipper, and I made wire replicas of my body, and inserted these replicas into each bag. Throughout the duration of the installation, I periodically went into the galley, removed a wire replica, and got into a bag myself and laid as still as I could for an hour or two. When I left that day, I left the deflated bay where I had been lying.
